I had the best service from Access Acres. They were super accommodating in making changes to my boxes as needed, because of this has made me register for next year. Kudos to Andrew Dunn. Love all the recipes and preserves that were sent. Thank you for the great service. Looking forward to next year.

This was my first time signing up for a veggie box program, something I’d been thinking about doing for quite some time. I looked forward to receving my box every other Saturday; however, I did find myself wishing I knew what would be delivered in advance so that I could plan meals or complete supplemental shopping in advance. A list of expected items included in the reminder email would be helpful. The veggies I received did get me out of my comfort zone (I tend to overuse good ol’ broccoli for every meal) and jazzed things up a bit in our household. I would also suggest consistently including some staples that we could depend on for every delivery, such as carrots or lettuce as often micogreens or parsley for example weren’t often needed or desired – especially when most of us must spend our food budget wisely these days. I loved receiving little extra ‘treats’ that were often included in the boxes – the pickled cauliflower was to die for!!! Thank you for providing us with delicious veggies for the season!

      Hi Shawna,

Thank you so much for the kind and honest review!

I’m happy to give you a most likely ‘guestimate’ for the contents of the box, just reply to the pick up reminder emails and ask me what’s to be expected.

It’s unfortunately too difficult to broadcast to all 55 members what to expect in each box each week, as we only cultivate a 1/4 acre, and many weekends
can consist of 2 or 3 versions of what’s in the bag.

I’ve tried immensely to acquire additional pieces of land to allow for more variety in boxes and consistency that would facilitate being able to communicate what’s in each box, alas many opportunities to expand the land we have arranged had fallen through or did not align, my apologies for that!

Im almost certain we put carrots in every box this year (save perhaps 1 week or two) so I hope we didn’t miss putting them in any of your bags. This was our 5th year and last year we only had carrots in 4 of the 10 bags so we were pretty pumped to be able to do this!

Thank you again for your support this year!

  3. Ashley Hadbavny

Such a great idea delivering fresh, local vegetables to your door! The recipes are what make Access Acres a unique experience as you get fantastic inspiration on how to use your box each week. We have remade multiple recipes already aswell!

  4. Chantal

It was so lovely getting a box every two weeks with fresh, locally grown veggies. I loved the surprise of seeing what we would get each time, as well as the delicious preserves and the recipes. Perhaps in the future I’d suggest trying to reduce the amount of plastic bags in the box.
I also appreciated the accommodation when I couldn’t pick up the box at the normal time. Great veggies, great service, great communication. Awesome all-around!

Thank you Andrew for all the beautiful and delicious veggies! I loved the canned surprises, used them with great satisfaction, and loved your notes that said “thanks mom” ~ she deserves the attention! Thank you for a wonderful first year, and I look forward to next year.

Access Acres’ produce is top-notch and the service is wonderful. Andrew is so kind and helpful, and his recipes and personal touches make this a CSA program I hope will always exist!

  7. Anne Kirkaldy

Access Acres’ veggie boxes are full of fresh, local veggies of the very best quality. The preserves and recipes are a welcome bonus. We are avid fans and recommend them highly.

  8. Tayna Watson

For the most part I love supporting local, however sometimes when you have these extra boxes to sell, I find when I get my veggies some of the veg isn’t in the one we get, no offence to mom but I would rather have veggies then a jar of salsa. Or maybe once in awhile. As we get later into the season, it would be nice to get a butternut squash or some kind of gourd, to make a soup. I look forward to next years bounty

      Hi Tayna,

You’ve been a member since the inception of our program so your feedback is immensely helpful!

Each year we try to expand our operation to be able to cultivate more land. We only cultivate a 1/4 acre, and we’ve been on the hunt regularly to acquire more land to grow, however we’ve unfortunately been unsuccessful thus far in doing so.

The additional “Seasonal Veggie Boxes” we make available we are typically 6-10 in total boxes, and help us make extra revenue outside of the Summer program. These boxes are typically priced between $25-$50, and yes sometimes they do contain things that aren’t included in the Summer program.

Many times we have crop failure, and other challenges that drastically drop our yields on a certain vegetable, and it’s during those times that we have to make tough decisions, leading to only certain weeks of the program getting certain items, or in the case of our egg laying chickens, only provide 1/2 dozen on a couple weeks throughout the season as opposed to every week. With only 50 hens and the limited space, it’s simply not possible to put eggs in every Summer program box, but we’re working towards that.

Winter squash like butternuts and acorns are our absolute FAVOURITE, however they take over a 100 days to mature and given the limited amount of space we cultivate, yields are again difficult to justify as we aim to expand our membership numbers whilst still only cultivating a 1/4 acre.

As with many of our members, we aim to please and make substitutions wherever possible, so if there is anything that you’d prefer to not receive in lieu of other veggies, and perhaps you have some particular favourites, just email us and we’d be happy to swap for your preferences whenever we can!

Thank you for renewing again for another season, we look forward to cultivating for you in 2024!

First time using a veggie box subscription and I’m already signed up for next year. It’s that great! We got the biweekly delivery and loved having farm fresh produce we could craft meals around. Extras like the recipes to try and jarred goods helped us think creatively and try new things. Really appreciative of how accommodating Andrew and the team are and cannot say how wonderful the customer service has been. I also highly recommend the Dahlia subscription as well!

  10. Susan Mercer (verified owner)

I just finished my first season with Access Acres and am excited to see what the next season brings. One of my favourite things, aside from the fresh produce, is that each delivery comes with a special treat, and a recipe to incorporate it into that week’s selection. This season I received eggs, spices I’ve never tried but now love, jars of pickled cauliflower (which was delicious), fig and onion jam, and fresh pumpkin muffin mix – all with recipes that I have kept to use again in the future. I highly recommend signing up for Access Acres. Andrew has a great thing going with local farm fresh products and great customer service.

  13. Sharon

We love our bi-weekly veggies and recipes! We have participated for 2 years now and look forward to the next year! Thanks Andrew – see you next Spring!

This was my first season with Access Acres, and I have signed up for next season as well. Beautiful veggies, excellent communication and customer service, and the recipes, spice mixes and preserves were a thoughtful bonus I looked forward to receiving every two weeks.
